Throw on some light layers, grab your sunglasses and pack extra water before you head out the door Monday. The trend of sunny skies and well above average temperatures will persist through your work week, but some relief could be on the way for your weekend!

You'll want to dress in light layers, grab your sunglasses and pack plenty of water before you head out the door Monday. The trend of sunny skies and above average temperatures will continue today as high pressure to our east and northwest remain the dominant features in our weather pattern. The limited activity we had across the northern Sierra and southern Cascades Sunday evening tapered off overnight, and we've been left with clearing skies into early Monday. Clear to mostly clear conditions are overhead early today, and we'll be sunny across our entire region Monday. Temperatures have dipped into the 50's to 60's in the valley and foothills, and our mountain zones are starting out in the 30's to 40's this morning. Winds are out of the northeast and mostly light early today, and we'll mostly have north winds in the 5 to 10mph range this afternoon. Humidity will mostly dip to below 25 percent this afternoon. The dry conditions paired with the above average temperatures will be a concern for our fire danger, but our modest winds will keep us in the moderate fire danger range today. High temperatures are projected to climb into the 89 to 97 degree range in the valley, while foothill and Sierra locations top out in the mid 70's to mid 80's, and the Northern Mountains climb into the 80's to lower 90's Monday afternoon. Temperatures will cool off nicely this evening with our clear skies, but downslope north winds may help to keep valley areas a touch warmer for the start of your Tuesday.

Our weather pattern will remain fairly similar through your entire work week, but a modest warming trend will be possible from Wednesday through Friday. The latest projections have valley areas starting out in the 50's to lower 60's and topping out in the low to mid 90's through the middle of this week. Foothill areas will start out in the 50's to 60's and top out in the 70's to mid 80's through mid week, while our mountain zones will start out in the 30's to 40's and end up in the upper 70's to lower 90's. We'll continue to stay sunny all week long, and a warming trend will be likely in our northern zones from Thursday into Friday. The north valley will have high temperatures in the mid to upper 90's to end your work week, while the mid valley tops out in the low to mid 90's. Foothill and mountain areas will mostly have similar high temperatures through Friday, but may end up 2 to 3 degrees warmer than mid week on Thursday and Friday.

Longer range models are showing the ridge of high pressure remaining the dominant feature of your extended forecast this weekend, but we are also expecting a decent cooling trend to arrive from Saturday into Sunday. That cooling trend is expected as low pressure in the Pacific tracks closer to the West Coast. That will leave us with an enhance Delta Breeze and a decent dip in our high temperatures on Sunday. The latest projections have valley areas starting out in the 50's to lower 60's through this weekend, and topping out in the upper 80's to mid 90's on Saturday. High temperatures will then dip back into the low to mid 80's in the valley on Sunday. Foothill areas will start out in the 50's to lower 60's this weekend, and will then top out in the 70's to lower 80's on Saturday and low to mid 70's on Sunday. Mountain areas will start out in the 30's to 40's and top out in the 70's to mid 80's through this weekend. Sunny skies are projected to persist through this weekend. Looks like it'll be nice to hunt for that perfect pumpkin through mid day Saturday, and then conditions will be much better for a pumpkin hunt all day on Sunday.
