A photo of the suspect who allegedly stole between $30,000 and 35,000 from a local optometrist.
A man wearing a white mask broke into an optometrist's office in Boerne and took at least $30,000 worth of eyeglasses, according to a Bexar County Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
The sheriff's office said a man burglarized the Boerne Vision Center in a Fair Oaks shopping complex at around 2 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 5. In the social media post, BCSO said the man got away with between $30,000 and $35,000 of merchandise.
The man used a hammer to smash in the front door and then pushed his way in with a large black storage tub that he used to store the eyeglasses, according to BCSO. He then drove away in a white van that did not have a front license plate, the social media post continued. Authorities said they believe the vehicle is a 2003 white Ford Econoline Cargo Van.
The sheriff's office said the man is about 5-feet, 5-inches with a "stocky, muscular build" and a shaved head. In addition to the white mask he used to cover his face, the man was also wearing new brown work boots and a green G-shock watch, BCSO said.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact BCSO at 210-335-6000 or email bcsotips@bexar.org.
