The city's long lost nightclubs and department stores can be seen in these old photos

These fascinating photographs capture a snapshot of what life was like in Merseyside in the 1980s.

The region has changed dramatically over the last four decades, including the places we shop, work and socialise. These photos from our archives show just how different parts of Liverpool city centre used to look during the 80s, from the city's 'sky bridges' on Roe Street and Old Hall Street to the construction of Clayton Square.

Long lost clubs from the Continental to Snobs nightclub will also bring memories flooding back for people who enjoyed nights out there.
