Dress in light layers, grab your sunglasses and pack some extra water before you head out the door Wednesday. We'll have sunny to mostly sunny skies and even warmer temperatures on the way for the rest of this week. We'll stay sunny and very warm through your weekend, but a welcome cooling trend will finally return towards the end of your 7 day forecast.

You'll want to dress in light layers, grab your sunglasses and pack some extra water before you head out the door Wednesday. You might also want to throw on a light extra layer for the morning, but I think a lot of you will be able to do without today. Our weather pattern has not changed much compared to yesterday as the strong ridge of high pressure remains centered just to our east, and is creating an Omega Block pattern across the southwest. That basically means that any other impactful weather systems will be kept at bay as this blocking pattern holds, and we'll continue to be left with sunny skies, dry weather and above average high temperatures. Skies stayed clear overnight, and will be sunny through your entire Wednesday. Temperatures are starting out in the 50's to 60's in the valley and foothills, while our mountain zones have dipped into the 30's to 40's overnight. Winds are mostly light and out of the northeast early today, but will shift to become out of the south in the 5 to 10mph range this afternoon. Humidity is projected to remain in the same range as it did on Tuesday, which stayed decently elevated. Temperatures are on the rise today, and will to out in the upper 80's to mid 90's in the valley, mid 70's to mid 80's in the foothills and Sierra, and mid 80's to lower 90's in the Northern Mountains. The modest winds and decent humidity values will leave us with another day of fire danger in the moderate range. The one lingering concern for our fire danger is that our fuels are remaining fairly dry, and are primed to ignite. That's why it's extremely important to stay cautious to avoid any activities that could produce sparks.

Our weather pattern will remain fairly similar through your upcoming weekend. We'll have sunny to mostly sunny skies, mild to cool overnight low temperatures, above average daytime high temperatures, and modest winds through Sunday. The ridge of high pressure centered to our east on Wednesday will slowly retrograde west and will be centered off the coast in the Pacific through this weekend. That will continue to be the dominant feature in our weather pattern through at least Sunday. Valley areas will have low temperatures in the upper 50's to lower 60's and high temperatures in the upper 80's to mid 90's. Foothill areas will start out in the 50's to 60's and to put in the 70's to mid 80's from Thursday through Sunday, while our mountain zones will start out in the 30's to 40's and top out in the 80's to low 90's. The peak of our heat is expected on Friday, when valley areas will have sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid 90's. Temperatures will then trend down by one to two degrees on Saturday and then again on Sunday. Valley areas will still top out in the upper 80's to mid 90's this weekend, while foothill and mountain areas mostly range from the 70's to mid 80's. Overnight low temperatures will continue to dip into the upper 50's to mid 60's in the valley and foothills, while our higher elevations dip into the upper 30's to mid 40's through the weekend.

We'll finally start to see a change of pace in our weather pattern across northern California as we head into next week. High pressure will remain fairly strong off the coast in the Pacific, but low pressure will track south from British Columbia into the Pacific Northwest on Monday. That cooler system will bring a modest dip in our high temperatures on Monday, with valley areas projected to top out in the mid 80's to lower 90's. Foothill and mountain areas will mostly climb into the 70's to lower 80's on Monday afternoon, but Northern Mountain areas could still potentially top out in the mid 80's. Skies will stay sunny to mostly sunny, but a few more clouds can be expected in our far northern zones. That low pressure will continue to track south until it's centered to our east from Tuesday into Wednesday. That will drive even cooler temperatures across our region, but will also bring the potential for gusty north/northeast winds to our forecast from Tuesday into Wednesday. High temperatures are currently projected to top out in the upper 70's to lower 80's in the valley on Tuesday, while foothill and mountain areas mostly end up in the 70's. We'll end up a couple of degrees cooler than Tuesday on Wednesday. The potential for gusty north winds will be a concern for our fire danger for the middle of next week, but there is also a chance for some modest wrap around showers from north to south across the Sierra for the middle of next week.
