Sunglasses can make anyone look cool, but these anime characters rock their shades cooler than anyone else, both in anime and IRL.
Anime is full of characters with cool costume designs. With every season, new series flood the screens of dedicated fans and introduce new settings, characters, and character designs to the world of anime. Satoru Gojo is one of the most recent additions to the anime scene.

Gojo's character design may be simple but it emanates coolness, like the round pair of black shades he donned in Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Gojo is surely one of the coolest anime characters to rock a pair of shades onscreen, but is he cooler than Leorio from Hunter X Hunter and Donquixote from One Piece?
Vash's sunglasses are as fundamental to his character as his no-kill policy. The golden lenses are housed by round frames that complement his flashy personality and golden hair. On top of complementing his character design, the golden lenses speak to the truest depths of Vash's character.
Trigun's hero is constantly at war with himself as he tries to come to terms with the violence in the world around him. Vash very literally views the world through a golden tint, refusing to kill those who threaten him and his friends until he is forced to. It's no surprise that Vash's final confrontation with Legato shows the hero without the signature golden glasses resting on his nose.
The northern king of Universe 7 is one of the most intelligent beings in the entire Dragon Ball franchise. Under King Kai's tutelage, Goku learned the Kaio-ken and Spirit Bomb techniques that truly distinguished him from his fellow Z Fighters.
King Kai's training methods may be unconventional, but his upbeat personality and fashion sense are right on point. He proves this every time he shows up onscreen by making hilariously bad jokes and rocking a pair of thin-framed shades that add a bit of flair to his otherwise basic character design.
Without putting an ounce of effort into appearing cool during his introduction, Kento Nanami went on to win over Jujutsu Kaisen fans with his brutal honesty. After being introduced to the overpowered and over-excited Satoru Gojo, Nanami's blunt personality was like a breath of fresh air.
Nanami is a mentor figure who isn't interested in playing games or making jokes about jujutsu. Like many viewers, Nanami was tired of the negativity that ran rampant in the world around him but managed to stay true to himself by rocking a full suit, stylized tie, and a pair of steampunk-inspired glasses that are hard to find outside of animation.
Before Ling Yao bonded with the homunculus known as Greed, the sentient philosopher's stone could be seen onscreen in a fur-lined vest and round black sunglasses. The glasses may not have been a staple of his character design for the entire show, but they demonstrated his independence by giving him his own sense of style.

As Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood progressed, Greed's character design went through some pretty drastic changes. After dropping his glasses and shedding his vest for a suit of unbreakable armor, Greed bonded with Ling Yao and became a semi-reliable ally to the Elric Brothers. Fans debate over which design suited Greed best, but he's still one of the coolest characters in FMA:B.
While there are a number of unique character designs in One Piece, few are as flagrantly flamboyant as Donquixote Doflamingo. The former world royal turned pirate is immediately recognizable within the One Piece fandom because of his long pink coat and red eyeglasses.
Before being defeated and imprisoned, Doflamingo was a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and at one point became the most influential underworld broker in the world. The former nobleman has held so many titles it should come as no surprise that he is also worthy of being called cool.
In the second episode of Durarara!! Fans are introduced to Shizuo Heiwajima. The supernaturally powerful bodyguard is considered by many to be the strongest character in the series. This is enough on its own to win over the hearts of anime fans, but Shizuo takes it a step further by rocking a bow tie and a pair of rectangular sunglasses.
To top it all off, Shizuo is a quiet, no-nonsense character who is willing to hop into the ring with anyone who disrespects him or his boss. His signature blue shades help keep him from losing his cool and going off on a violent rampage.
The jinchuriki in possession of the Eight-Tails is one of the few characters in Naruto who learned how to enhance their own power by channeling the energy of the tailed beast. With this power, Killer B protected the Village Hidden in the Clouds for years and earned the respect of his fellow shinobi.
Sharing a skill with the series protagonist is impressive, but not as impressive as Killer B's ability to win over fans despite his blatantly stereotyped character traits. The skilled shinobi randomly breaks out in dance and speaks predominantly in rap lyrics, yet still manages to win over fans with his combat skills and lighthearted approach to life.
The decoy protagonist of Gurren Lagann rocked a pair of shades that were so cool that they were purposefully added to the design of his mecha. After putting on a masterful demonstration of how to stay cool under fire, fans took to the internet to build a meme out of Kamina's iconic shades.

Over the course of a few weeks, the glasses became a symbol of coolness that could be photo-shopped onto the face of fictional and non-fictional characters alike. While there was some irony behind the meme, Kamina's genuine cool-under-fire behavior motivated fans to turn his shades into an online trend.
When Loke is first introduced in Fairy Tail, he comes off as little more than a flirtatious mage with a bad habit of assuming too much of the women around him. Luckily, as the series progresses, it becomes more and more clear that Loke has a tremendous amount of respect for these women.
During his time in the human world, Loke respected every command Lucy gave him and even risked his own life to help Aries. This personal sacrifice is cool on its own, but when it is revealed that the sunglasses-wearing light mage is actually a celestial spirit known as Leo, Loke entered the conversation of the coolest anime characters of all time.
Despite being a new addition to anime, Satoru Gojo has already cemented his spot at the top of the genre. His confident personality and happy-go-lucky attitude are reinforced by his incredible combat strength and striking blue eyes. Unfortunately, fans are rarely treated to Satoru's baby blues because he keeps them hidden behind a headband for the majority of the first season.
Even when Satoru isn't wearing his headband, he keeps his eyes hidden behind a pair of circle-framed shades. Though the glasses are not a part of his original character design, anytime he lets his hair fall and dons his sunglasses, fans are reminded that Satoru is not just the strongest — he is the coolest.
