Zooey Deschanel wore a fabulous big city ensemble while walking through the streets of New York City on Friday morning. 

The actress, 42, donned a patterned black and white shearling trench coach. She stood on tall black high heels with long black stockings pulled up tightly. 

The Los Angeles native gave her onlookers a small wave while she headed to her appearance on CBS Mornings where she discussed her healthy food app Merryfield and her return to television with the third season of Physical.

The Yes Man star added big movie star sunglasses to the ensemble, and she carried a red and black striped shoulder bag with her. 

Her dark brown hair fell in thick curls to the middle of her back while bangs hung down to her eyebrows. 

Merryfield is a healthy food app. Users scan their receipts from the grocery store and companies partnered with the app provide points and discounts to the users.

'I started looking into everything I was eating, and I found it was difficult to find information,' the mother-of-two explained. 'And I also found it was hard to get. It was expensive, you had to go out of your way, it wasn't convenient.' 

The Elf actress said she started a company Lettuce Grow which helped people to grow their own food indoors, but it only covered about 20 percent of what people eat. Merryfield was created to help people choose healthy options for the other 80 percent. 

The app is free, and Zooey said using the points makes grocery shopping more fun.

New Girl: The hosts then switched gears and asked Deschanel about her hit television show New Girl which ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2018

'You know how fun it is when you take a trip on a plane and you're like "Yes! I got gold status." It's like the same thing,' she joked before adding she likes making a game out of healthy eating.
